Početkom 1860-ih u New Yorku, irski imigrant Amsterdam Vallon je pušten iz zatvora i vraća se u Five Points, tražeći osvetu protiv ubice svog oca, Williama Cuttinga, moćnog vođe bande protiv imigranata.
