Mini serija „Naše majke, naši očevi“, koja ništa ne ulepšava, treba da uvede u novu fazu filmsko-istorijskog sučeljavanja s nacionalsocijalizmom. Filip Kadelbah, reditelj filma, šalje 1941. petoro mladih ljudi u borbu. Svi imaju po 20-ak godina, puni su života i ideja. Nalazimo se pred kraj druge godine rata, napad na Sovjetski savez tek predstoji. Šarlote se javlja da radi dobrovoljno kao medicinska sestra i odlazi na Istok. Greta ostaje u Berlinu, gde radi na svojoj karijeri pevačice i uživa pažnju visokorangiranog NS-oficira. Posle kratkog vremena, od naivnih mladih ljudi, postaju oni koji izvršavaju naredbe, oni koji moraju da ubijaju vojnike, stare, žene i decu.
