Alex Wright je velkým fanouškem filmu Grave Encounters a je doslova posedlý snahou získat důkaz o tom, že události, které se ve filmu staly nejsou smyšlené. Proto se rozhodne s přáteli vydat do psychiatrické léčebny, ve které se původní účastníci filmu setkali s nepřestavitelným zlem. Jenže jeho posedlost ho může stát život a také životy jeho přátel. Skupina bude muset využít všech svých znalostí Grave Encounters, aby se z toho dostali.
