Nevydařený experiment s geneticky upravenými rostlinami způsobil katastrofu na zemi. Většina populace byla vyhlazena. Zbytky lidí se snaží přežít na zpustošené planetě. Nezbedný chlapec Agita potká dívku Tuulu, která žila v minulosti. Její otec zajistil, aby přežila katastrofu. Shunnack, přeměněný člověk také z minulosti, chce pomocí Isutoky (systém přírodní obnovy) obnovit "pořádek" na Zemi. Plně si však neuvědomuje, co vlastně dělá, protože by musel obětovat všechny lidi, aby mohl planetu napravit. K porozumění přijde bohužel příliš pozdě.
