Soukromý detektiv Philip Marlowe (Elliott Gould) je velmi překvapen, když se u něj v pozdní hodinu vynoří přítel Terry Lennox (Jim Bouton) a prosí, aby ho Marlowe zavezl přes hranice do Mexika.
