Příběh dvou kubánských mladíků zprostředkovává bez příkras obraz dnešní Havany. Oba hlavní hrdinové mají možná odlišné touhy a cíle, ale nakonec je to především fotbal, k čemu se upíná jejich naděje. Postupně v sobě objevují vzájemnou náklonnost, kterou si dlouho nebyli ochotní připustit, a propuká mezi nimi vášnivý vztah. Avšak realita dopadá velmi tvrdě na lidi ve společnosti, kde svobodu nahrazuje snění a kde každodenní boj o přežití je hlavním cílem většiny z nich. Tato španělsko-kubánská koprodukce je dalším z filmů zachycujících neúprosnou degradaci Havany a pokrytecké přihlížení destrukci životů mnoha mladých lidí, kterým systém nenabízí smysluplnou budoucnost. Ústřední zápletka je založena na skutečných událostech, se kterými se režisér setkal při hledání námětu v prostředí havanských prostitutů.
