Během této doby se Panna Maria zjevovala každý 13. den (s jednou výjimkou) pasáčkem Lucii, Františkovi a Hyacintě. Panna Maria vyslovila varování a dala dětem proroctví. Matka Boží ve Fatimě vyzvala svět k obrácení, modlitbě a pokání. Zvlášť dětem zdůrazňovala každodenní modlitbu růžence. Dne 13. května 2000 papež Jan Pavel II. blahořečil Františka a Hyacintu.
