Tom Brand je velmi úspěšný podnikatel a boháč na vrcholu své kariéry. Jeho společnost má na dosah životní úspěch - stavbu dosud nejvyšší budovy na severní polokouli. Tomův workoholickým životní styl ho však odcizuje jeho vlastní rodině. Jeho krásná žena Lara a dcera Rebecca (Malina Weissman) si ho doma hodně neužijí. Blíží se však Rebeccine narozeniny a ona si přeje kočku. Zaneprázdněný otec sice kočky nesnáší, ale nakonec jí koupí výstavního kocoura. Cestou domů má však nehodu. Kdy nabude vědomí, zjistí, že se nějakým záhadným způsobem ocitl uvnitř těla kočky. Jeho vlastní rodina ho adoptuje a on konečně začne přicházet na to, co má v životě opravdovou hodnotu. Není však už pozdě?
