Film se odehrává v Římě v 80. letech. Parta kamarádů se má připravovat na zkoušku dospělosti, místo studia se ale zaplete do neuvěřitelné souhry nešťastných náhod. Za všechno může Luca, který - vyzbrojen nezvyklou odvahou - zasype profesora italského jazyka a literatury Martinelliho celou řadou urážek a obvinění. Hned nato zjistí, že Martinelli bude členem zkušební komise. Aby toho nebylo málo, Luca se zamiluje do Claudie, která je zasnoubená s chlapcem, jenž má o 20 kg více svalů než on. A to ještě netuší to nejpodstatnější: Claudie je dcerou nenáviděného profesora Martinelliho. Vše vrcholí noc před maturitou…
