Film vypráví příběh rodiny Michelucci od sedmdesátých let až po současnost: ústřední postavou je ohromně krásná Anna, živá, lehkovážná a někdy trapná matka Bruna a Valerie. Vše začíná v létě roku 1971, na každoroční letní soutěži krásy konané v nejoblíbenějším koupalském zařízení v Livornu. Anna je nečekaně korunována "Nejkrásnější matkou", což nevědomky vyvolává násilnou žárlivost jejího manžela. Od té chvíle rodinu zasáhne chaos a pro Annu, Bruna a jeho sestru Valerii je to začátek dobrodružství, které skončí až za třicet let.
