Seržant Peter King (Kenneth Cranham) a vojín Leslie Cuthbertson (Leo Bill) v roce 1942 ukradli pytel granátů, dva revolvery a sadu nejlepšího zubařského náčiní, jež se dalo v té době koupit, a vydali se na vlastní pěst na pomoc okupované Francii bez povolení velitele! Na filmovém plátně se tento neuvěřitelně nezodpovědný, leč výstředně hrdinský příběh objevuje poprvé, přestože patří k nejbizarnějším událostem, k nimž došlo v průběhu 2. světové války.
