Sandro a Anna s sebou na výlet jachtou vezmou Anninu přítelkyni. Anna náhle záhadně zmizí – snad se nudila a odešla nebo se stalo neštěstí. Sandro s Claudií ji hledají a cestou se z nich stanou milenci. Už nevědí, co a jestli vůbec něco hledají. V dodnes fascinujícím černobílém snímku položil tehdy už zkušený Antonioni základ moderního filmového jazyka. Jeho záměrem bylo upozadit děj a soustředit se na vnitřní napětí. Pomalý a meditativní film o vzájemné nepoznatelnosti a odcizení byl ve své době zatracován i zahrnován cenami a své kvality si podržel dodnes. Banální příběh znuděného milostného trojúhelníku se díky režisérově mistrovství proměnil v sondu do intimních vztahů ve společnosti, kde i svoboda tíží.(oficiální text distributora)
