Angel City roku 2247. Už delší dobu ohrožuje obyvatele nového Los Angeles zločinec jménem Whistler. Ten si vytváří své otroky z psychicky slabších tak, že jim přepíše mozek tzv. trancerem a tak konají vše podle jeho příkazu. Tranceři jsou v podstatě takoví techno-zombíci. Whistler se ale zdá být policejními jednotkami poražen a zneškodněn. Ale opravdu jen zdá. Povedlo se mu totiž ukrást drogu, která ho přesune v čase a v prostoru do roku 1985, kde se vtělí ve vysoce postaveného policistu a plánuje zotročit předky těch, kteří Zemi zachránili po tzv. Velkém zemětřesení. A tak zrušit aktuální budoucnost. Do policijení služby je znovupovolán vysloužilý policista Jack Deth, kterému Whistler ztranceřil manželku...
