Dobrotivý Malý duch probudí k životu tanečníky, jejichž vzorem je nedostižný Pán tance (Lord of the Dance – Michael Flatley). Ten miluje krásnou tanečnici Saoirse. Do cesty jejich štěstí se však postaví neméně krásná svůdkyně Morrighan a především Temný pán, který ovládá celou armádu a který chce připravit Pána tance o jeho titul. Temný pán se neštítí použít pro své cíle jakékoli prostředky. Strana dobra se jej však přesto pokusí porazit, a to ve strhujícím tanečním souboji…
Legendární taneční show, která je dílem choreografa a tanečníka Michaela Flatleyho, spatřila světla ramp 2. července 1996 v The Point Theatre v irském Dublinu. Nejnovější podoba představení, zasazená do modernějších kulis a kostýmů a opatřená novými speciálními efekty, pochází z roku 2011 a byla natočena při představeních v Londýně, Dublinu a Berlíně.
