Zamotaný příběh plný překvapení začíná znepokojujícím zmizením třináctiletého Nicholase Barclaye z Texasu. O tři roky později přicházejí ohromující zprávy: chlapec byl objeven v tisíce kilometrů vzdáleném Španělsku, kam ho měli odvléct tajemní únosci a kde měl přežít strašlivé útrapy. Okolnosti jeho návratu jsou velmi podivné, opravdu zvláštní ale je, když se chlapec vrátí zpět do Texasu.
