Londýn. Půlnoc. Chladný zimní večer. Kate (Franka Potente) nemůže sehnat taxi, a proto zamíří na metro. Když mírně opilá čeká na poslední vlak, na chviličku jí spadne hlava... a když se probudí, zjistí, že není sama. V panice se pokusí utéct, ale metro mezitím zamkli. V tu chvíli přijede vlak a Kate, stále ještě nervózní, nastoupí. V soupravě je zdá se jediným cestujícím. Její úleva se však změní v děs, když uprostřed tunelu vlak zastaví a její vagon se ponoří do tmy. To, co číhá v černočerném bludišti metra, je něco nepředstavitelného. Něco, co nazývá skrytou laboratoř domovem... Něco, co nechce nechat Kate na pokoji. Metro je děsivým seskokem do temného podzemí Londýna, noční můrou ukazující krajní meze holého přežití.
