Telenovela je remakem venezuelské telenovely La Dueña, kterou napsal José Ignacio Cabrujas. Název odráží místní termín nebo slang v Mexiku, který oslovuje osobu považovanou za hlavního šéfa. Název však zároveň odráží boj jak protagonisty, tak antagonisty o moc, autoritu a respekt v pracovním oboru, který je tradičně považován za mužskou práci.
