Da en berømt opera diva kommer til skade midt i en storslået produktion af Verdis Macbeth, får hendes dubleant, Betty, chancen for at vise, hvad hun dur til. Bettys nye succes i rampelyset bringer dog også nogle ubehagelige ting med sig. Den unge kvinde bliver pludselig mål for en psykopatisk morder, der kidnapper hende og tvinger hende til at se på, mens han slagter uskyldige mennesker. Det lykkedes Betty at slippe væk, men nu skal hun holde sammen på sig selv midt i frygten for den jagede morder og panikken forud for den store premiere.
