Den tredje i en filmserie med François Truffauts alter ego Antoine Doinel. Historien fortsætter, da Antoine bliver udskrevet fra militæret. Hans kæreste Christines far skaffer ham et job som sikkerhedsvagt, men han mister det hurtigt.
