Roman Polanskis brilliante vampyrfilmklassiker fra 1967. Professor Abronsius (Jack MacGowran) og hans assistent Alfred (Roman Polanski) er på deres livs videnskabsrejse på jagt efter vampyrernes højborg i Transsylvanien. I en iskold, snerig december ankommer de til en kro tæt ved vampyrernes slot. Overalt på kroen hænger hvidløg og kors, og det er selvsagt svært for professoren og hans assistent at tro på, når kroejerne siger, at der ikke findes vampyrer i området. Ja, dette er helt enkelt en af de bedste genre-parodier der nogensinden er lavet. Jack MacGowran er ubetalelig som den distræte professor Ambrosius og Polanski er okay som hans fummelfingrede medhjælper. Læg også mærke til den elegante Ferdy Mayne som greven! Og Sharon Tate er jo simpelthen for dejlig! Perfekt mix af horror og skæg! En klassiker! Og så er der gusten gravkammerstemning i hvert et billede!
