Musikeren Roberto Tobias konfronterer en mystisk fremmed, der forfølger ham. Under et håndgemæng får Roberto fravristet manden en kniv, men forfølgeren dolkes på sit våben, mens en maskeret figur tager billeder af optrinnet. Ikke med det formål at afpresse Roberto, men for at drive ham til vanvid. Roberto hyrer en privatdetektiv, men alle, der kommer tæt på gådens løsning, ender som det næste offer. Først da politiet fremkommer med en kontroversiel teori, rykker sandheden uhyggeligt tæt på Roberto... Og snart er han i overhængende livsfare!
