Da de engelske Hammer Studios startede på at genindspille de gamle Universal monsterfilm, ofte, som her, med Christopher Lee og Peter Cushing i ledende roller, blev det også begyndelsen på en ny skrækfilm-æra, der skæppede godt i selskabets kasse. Ingen af de nye film nåede vel højderne fra de bedste af de gamle, men disse havde det nye publikum alligevel glemt alt om.
