Da Hitler kommer til magten, stiger den nådesløse Reinhard Heydrich hurtigt i graderne. Heydrich bliver hovedarkitekten bag jødeudryddelserne, og i 1942 er han rigsprotektor i Tjekkoslovakiet, som han regerer med brutal hånd. Fra London sendes to unge tjekkiske modstandsfolk til Prag på en livsfarlig mission. De skal likvidere manden, som af Hitler kaldes "manden med jernhjertet".
