Historien klovnen Chocolat, som er en del af klovneduoen, som skabte cirkushistorie. Chocolat blev den første sorte cirkusartist i Frankrig, som fik stor succes i slutningen af det 19. århundrede, og sammen med klovnemakkeren Footit blev de kendte i hele Frankring. Uden for scenen var Chocolats eget liv præget af lige så megen drama og fest, som cirkusscenen gav plads.
