Efter Myriam og Antoine er gået fra hinanden, bliver det afgjort at de skal have fælles forældremyndighed over deres søn, Julien. Julien bliver snart gidsel mellem en jaloux og voldelig far og en plaget mor og presses til det yderste for at forhindre det værste i at ske. Custody har været en overraskende, international succes og blev tildelt Sølvløven i Venedig for bedste instruktør og bedste debutfilm samt publikumsprisen på San Sebastian Film Festival.
