Pingvinen Mumble har et problem: Hans lille søn Erik lider af danseskræk. Af angst for at danse løber Erik væk og møder The Mighty Sven, en pingvin, som kan flyve! Mumble har ikke en chance for at konkurrere med dette karismatiske nye forbillede. Men tingene bliver værre, da verden rystes af magtfulde kræfter, og så må Mumble glemme sine personlige problemer, og samle alle dyrerne - fra pingvin over bittesmå krebsdyr til gigantiske søelefanter - for at bringe verden tilbage på ret køl.
