I mange måneder har en ultravoldelig parisisk gadebande haft succes med at røve pansrede pengetransporter. Og den lokale politichef tager usædvanlige metoder i brug over for sine to underordnede betjente, Leo Vrinks og Denis Klein: den, der kan stoppe banden, overtager posten som boss for politihovedkvarter 36, Quai des Ofèvres. Dysten er i gang mellem de to topbetjente, som engang var venner, men nu kappes på alle fronter: deres privatliv, deres metoder, deres stab... og én kvindes opmærksomhed.
