En dag opdager indbyggerne i en lille mineby langt ude på bøhlandet, at et kemikalieudslip har forårsaget en mutation blandt hundredvis af edderkopper. I løbet af en nat er de ikke blot blevet gigantisk store, de er også meget sultne.
