For mange år siden hærgede en stor borgerkrig Japan og efterlod landet fragmenteret mellem to regioner: Kansai og Kanto. I Kansai udfører en gruppe på seks Akudama missioner, som de får af en mystisk sort kat, mens de undslipper politiet. Men en farlig rejse er ved at udfolde sig, da en civil pige bliver forvredet ind i Akudamas livsstil og er vidne til deres kriminelle drift.
