Serien er baseret på Valeria Vargas erindringer, Not A Whore, Not A Saint: The Memories of La Veneno og handler om en af de mest skattede transseksuelle ikoner fra 90'erne, Cristina Ortiz (La Veneno). Serien følger Valeria, en ung journaliststuderende, der opdager, at hun har mere til fælles med La Veneno, end hun troede. De to kvinder blev født i meget forskellige tidsperioder, men deres historier flettes sammen, da Valeria begynder at skrive en bog om La Veneno. Serien er skabt af Javier Calvo og Javier Ambrosi.
