Den excentriske milliardær Eric Benirall (Sam Neil) har netop mistet endnu et skib i den berygtede Bermuda trekant, og det er han ærligt talt lidt træt af. Derfor samler han et team til at undersøge sagen. Journalisten Howard Thomas (Eric Stoltz), forskeren Emily Patterson (Catherine Bell) eventyreren Bruce Geller (Michael Rodgers) og Stan Lathem (Bruce Davison), der har nogle helt specielle evner. Med Beniralls ubegrænsede midler i ryggen skal de fire finde svaret på gåden bag de mystiske hændelser i Bermuda trekanten - én gang for alle. Ingen af dem tror rigtigt på, at der er noget at finde, men de bliver lokket til at påtage sig opgaven af en ret stor check. De finder dog snart ud af, at der er noget om snakken, og det går op for dem, at sandheden er meget mere utrolig end nogle af de skøre teorier. Mere utrolig og meget mere farlig!
