Kurz vor Weihnachten plagt ein heftiger Schneesturm das Land und umgestürzte Bäume versperren die Straßen, acht Personen finden keinen Ausweg und suchen Unterschlupf in einer alten Kirche. Es stellt sich heraus, dass jeder von ihnen zurzeit einen schweren Schicksalsschlag verkraften muss. So lassen sich Mary und Joseph Wells (Allison Hossack und Dan Payne) zum Beispiel scheiden und Joseph bringt es nicht übers Herz, seinem Sohn Matt (Valin Shinyei) davon zu erzählen. Währenddessen befindet sich ein frisch verheiratetes Ehepaar zum ersten Mal richtig im Streit. Nach einer Weile bemerken alle acht Menschen, dass sie von den Problemen der anderen lernen und diese mit ihnen gemeinsam bewältigen können. Zusammen könnten sie ein echtes Weihnachtswunder wahr werden lassen.
