Nach 15 Jahren auf der Flucht scheint seine Zeit um zu sein: Guerillaführer Manuel, der seit fünfzehn Jahren von dem brutalen Captain Vinolas verfolgt wird, ihm bisher jedoch immer entkommen konnte. Als Manuels Mutter im Sterben liegt, verlässt er sein Versteck und läuft Gefahr, Vinolas direkt in die Arme zu laufen. Manuel muss die Stadt San Martin erreichen, wo ihm der 11-jährige Paco, der auf Rache für Vinolas' Mord an seinem Vater hofft, eine Landkarte übergeben soll. Doch Manuel wird von einem Informanten verraten, der Vinolas von Manuels Plänen erzählt. Als er San Martin erreicht, steht Manuel vor der Wahl, entweder den Verräter oder Vinolas zu töten. Für wen wird er sich entscheiden?
