Im Herbst 1944 wird die RAF-Maschine Hudson, an Bord ein VIP-Passagier mit streng geheimen Informationen, abgeschossen und muss in der Nordsee notwassern. Im Kampf gegen die Elemente und um die Moral kämpfend, erzählen die Insassen des Schlauchboots von ihrem Leben in Erwartung der erhofften Rettung. Der Filmtitel spiegelt das Motto des Air Sea Rescue Service der RAF wider, eines der Hochgeschwindigkeitsboote, das gegen mechanische Probleme, Feindeinwirkung, Zeit und Wetter ankämpft, um die abgestürzte Besatzung und die wichtigen Geheimpapiere zu finden und zu retten.
