Η καλόγρια Susan Sarandon προσπαθεί να σώσει τον θανατοποινίτη Sean Penn, ανταποκρινόμενη στο κάλεσμα του, ενώ ταυτόχρονα προσπαθεί να ανακαλύψει την αλήθεια για το έγκλημα που διέπραξε.
