Ο Makoto Misumi είναι απλώς ένας συνηθισμένος μαθητής γυμνασίου που ζει μια κανονική ζωή, αλλά ξαφνικά καλείται στον άλλο κόσμο για να γίνει «ήρωας». Η θεά του άλλου κόσμου, όμως, τον προσβάλλει επειδή είναι διαφορετικός και του αφαιρεί τον τίτλο του «ήρωα», πριν τον πετάξει στην έρημο στην άκρη του κόσμου. Καθώς περιπλανιέται στην έρημο, ο Makoto συναντά δράκους, αράχνες, ορκ, νάνους και κάθε λογής μη ανθρώπινες φυλές. Επειδή ο Makoto προέρχεται από έναν διαφορετικό κόσμο, είναι σε θέση να απελευθερώσει αφάνταστες μαγικές δυνάμεις και δεξιότητες μάχης. Αλλά πώς ακριβώς θα χειριστεί τις συναντήσεις του με διάφορα είδη και θα επιβιώσει στο νέο του περιβάλλον. Σε αυτή τη φαντασίωση, ο Makoto προσπαθεί να μεταμορφώσει τον άλλο κόσμο σε ένα καλύτερο μέρος, παρά το γεγονός ότι οι άνθρωποι και οι θεοί του έχουν γυρίσει την πλάτη.
