Επτά σειρές μεταδόθηκαν αρχικά στο BBC One από το 1981 έως το 1991, με δεκαέξι σποραδικές χριστουγεννιάτικες προσφορές να προβάλλονται μέχρι το 2003. Στο Peckham της εργατικής τάξης στο νοτιοανατολικό Λονδίνο, ο φιλόδοξος έμπορος Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter και ο μικρότερος ετεροθαλής αδερφός του Rodney, εξερευνούν τα σκαμπανεβάσματα της ζωής τους, ιδιαίτερα τις προσπάθειές τους να πλουτίσουν. Αρχικά δεν έγινε άμεση επιτυχία και έλαβε μικρή προώθηση από νωρίς, αργότερα πέτυχε σταθερά υψηλές βαθμολογίες και το επεισόδιο του 1996 "Time on Our Hands" (αρχικά τιμολογήθηκε ως το φινάλε της σειράς) κατέχει το ρεκόρ για το μεγαλύτερο κοινό στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο για επεισόδιο κωμικής σειράς, προσελκύοντας 24.3 εκατομμύρια θεατές. Η σειρά έχει σημαντική επιρροή στη βρετανική κουλτούρα, συνεισφέροντας αρκετές λέξεις και φράσεις στην αγγλική γλώσσα.
