Candy, de 16 años es abordada cuando sale del colegio por un trío de secuestradores despiadados pero ineptos: Jessie, su psicópata hermano Alan y Eddy, un inadaptado veterano del ejército. Buscan conseguir 500.000 dólares en joyas y mantienen a Candy enterrada viva en una caja con tan sólo un pequeño tubo encajado en el improvisado ataúd para que pueda respirar. El padre de la muchacha realmente es su padrastro y no tiene interés alguno en pagar el rescate. La vida de Candy depende ahora de un único testigo: un niño autista que lo ha visto todo.
