فیلمی درخشان با بازی هایی عالی که نشان گر شیوه ی جدید هیچکاکِ متأخر درکار با بازیگران است و در آن طنزی جسورانه موج می زند که حکایت از پیوندی میمون میان شوخ طبعی دوره ی انگلیسی و تسلط تکنیکی دوره ی امریکایی استاد دارد. این پنجاه و سومین و آخرین فیلم استاد است. هیچکاک چهار سال بعد از ساخت این فیلم یعنی در 29 آوریل 1980 چشم از جهان فروبست. ـ داستان: «بلانچ تیلر» (هریس)، احضار کننده ی حرفه ای ارواح است و در تظاهر به برقراری رابطه با روح خواهر مرحوم «جولیا رین بردِ» پولدار(نسبیت)، می فهمد که چهل سال پیش «جولیا» خواهرش را مجبور کرده برای جلوگیری از رسوایی و بدنامی، فرزند مشروعش را رها کند، وحالا حاضر است ده هزار دلار بدهد تا ردی از خواهرزاده اش پیدا کند...
