در سال ۱۹۵۱ آتش بس اعلام میشود، اما دو ارتش باقی مانده آخرین نبرد خود را در خط مقدم اواخر جنگ کره انجام میدهند، یک گردان کره جنوبی بهشدت در حال نبرد بر فراز تپهای در مرز خط مقدم علیه کره شمالی است تا یک نقطه استراتژیک را که مرز جدید بین دو کشور را تعیین میکند، تصرف کند. مالکیت این قطعه زمین کوچک هر روز چندین بار عوض میشود. کانگ به خط مقدم اعزام میشود تا مورد فرضی که در آنجا اتفاق افتاده را بررسی کند. اما وقتی با دوستش کیم که به ماشین جنگی تبدیل شده و واحدش آشنا میشود، وارد جنگی میشود که ترسناکتر از خود مرگ است. با آغاز شمارش معکوس برای آتش بس، هر دو طرف شرورتر میشوند و منجر به مرگ افراد بی شماری میشود تا آخرین نفر بتواند زمین را تصاحب کند.
