شیری است تمام عمر خود را در باغ وحشی در نیویورک سر کرده، اما به دروغ داستانهایی خیالی از دلاوریهایش در جنگل برای پسرش تعریف میکند. شبی کارکنان باغ وحش برای کمک به حیواناتی که در جزیرهای با آتشفشان فعال اسیر هستند، به طرف آنجا حرکت میکنند و بچه شیر به طور اتفاقی در یکی از کابینهای حمل حیوانات اسیر میشود و به آفریقا منتقل میگردد. حالا پدر بچه شیر به همراه دوستان باغ وحش (زرافه، کوالا، سنجاب و مار) برای برگرداندن بچه شیر راهی جنگلهای آفریقا میشوند.
