Toivo lepää pyssysankari-seriffi Roy Pulsipherissa (Jeffrey Donovan), kun hänestä tulee tuonpuoleisen Rest In Peace Departmentin (R.I.P.D.) tuorein lainvartija. Jos Vanhan Lännen meno oli hurjaa Royn eläessä, sitä oudommaksi se käy hänen kuoltuaan. Roy luuli voivansa R.I.P.D:ssä kohdata tyttärensä ja ratkaista hänen murhansa.
