Muriel Heslopin elämä ei ole ruusuilla tanssimista. Hänen isänsä on tyranni, ystävät ilkeitä ja sisar täyspäiväinen hulttio. Muriel pakenee todellisuutta suosikkiyhtyeensä Abban haavemaailmaan. Hänen suurin unelmansa on kuitenkin päästä naimisiin. Näyttääkseen ystävättärilleen olevansa "jotakin" hän ei kaihda mitään keinoja. Muriel on mm. valmis ryöstämään isänsä rahat ja varastamaan kalliin puvun. Rohkea rokan syö ja pian hän huomaa olevansa keskellä hurjaa rumbaa. Tanssi saa kuitenkin odottamattoman lopun unelmaprinssin löytyessä "etsin ystävää" -palstalta. Tuoreen aviomiehen motiivit eivät kuitenkaan taida olla tavanomaiset, mutta sitähän ei tarvitse kenenkään muun tietää...
