Aurinkokauden 198. vuonna Tokiossa erikoispalokunnat taistelevat ilmiötä vastaan, jota kutsutaan spontaaniksi ihmisen palamiseksi, jossa ihmiset muuttuvat eläviksi infernoiksi, joita kutsutaan "helvetillisiksi".
