קיריקו הוא תינוק אפריקאי קטנטן היוצא למאבק המכשפה רבת עוצמה שגרמה להרס כפרו. בהיולדו קיריקו נחלץ בכוחות עצמו מרחמה של אימו, מנתק לבדו את חבל הטבור ודורש מיד עם צאתו לאוויר העולם אמבטיה. אימו אומרת לו שתינוק שהצליח להיוולד ללא עזרה יכול גם להתרחץ לבד, אבל מזהירה אותו לא לבזבז מים כי קאראבה המכשפה המרשעת יבשה את באר המים בכפר וטרפה את כל הגברים שניסו לעמוד בפניה.
