באירופה של ראשית שנות ה-50, על רקע המלחמה הקרה, ויקטור והצוות שלו נודדים ברחבי היבשת בחיפוש אחר כשרונות חדשים ללהקה בניהולו, איתה הוא מסתובב ברחבי אירופה ומבצע את מיטב שירי העם הפולנים של התקופה. הוא פוגש בזולה, זמרת צעירה, תמימה ומלאת קסם אישי, וכנראה הבחורה הכי יפה שהוא אי פעם ראה, ובין השניים נרקם רומן. אבל נדמה שהפוליטיקה של התקופה, הרקע השונה ממנו השניים באים וגחמות הגורל חוברים כולם נגד סיפור האהבה הזה.
