חוות הקסמים מגולל את סיפורו של ווילבור חזרזיר קטן שלומד את ערכה של חברות. ווילבור הופך לתוספת החדשה במשק לאחר שפרן הצעירה העבירה אותו לשם, מכיוון שלא יכלה להחזיק בו בתוך ביתה. אבל כל החיות לועגות לו בשל אופיו הילדותי. רק שרלוט, העכבישה המתגוררת בקורת הגג, מתחברת איתו. ידידותם הפורחת מוכיחה את עצמה כאשר שאר החיות מגלות שימיו של ווילבור ספורים. נדמה שרק נס יציל את חייו של ווילבור, אך שרלוט מנסה לשכנע את החוואי שכדאי לו להציל את ווילבור.
