בעולם בו בני האדם ורובוטים חיים יחדיו, קיימת עיר הנמצאת תחת כיפה עגולה, "רומודו" שמה. תחת שליטה מאורגנת של ההנהלה זהו גן עדן בו אין רגשות. אך השקט השורר בעיר עומד להתפוצץ עקב סדרת רציחות מסתוריים. ליל מאייר, בלשית, נשלחה לפתור את תיק הרצח. בעודה חוקרת את האירועים היא מסתבכת יותר ויותר במסתורין "ההתעוררות", דבר שישנה את חייה ואת חיי תושבי רומודו לנצח!
