Tom Witzky, običan radnik, nakon hipnoze na zabavi počinje doživljavati uznemirujuće vizije i čuti šapate. U početku ih odbacuje, no s vremenom postaju sve jači i stvarniji, preplavljujući njegov svakodnevni život. Uskoro shvaća da su te pojave povezane s nestankom mlade djevojke iz njegove četvrti prije nekoliko mjeseci. Opsjednut željom da otkrije istinu, Tom počinje kopati po mračnim tajnama svoje susjedstva, ne sluteći u kakvu se opasnost upušta.
