Nekad davno na Zemlji su živjeli dinosauri. Među njima, živio je i mali dinosaur Mala Šapa, sa svojim djedom i bakom. I mnogo se toga uzbudljivog i opasnog događalo toj dinosaurskoj obitelji i svim njihovim rođacima, ali je već dugo vremena život u njihovoj dolini spokojan i lijep. No, onda i djed, i baka, pa i Mala Šapa, počinju osjećati nešto neodređeno, nešto što ih pomalo plaši, a prvi su se znakovi pojavili u snovima. Mudri djed kaže Maloj Šapi da bi trebao biti spreman - možda će već sutra svi zajedno morati krenuti na daleki put... Mala Šapa i ne sluti da će na kraju tog puta naći nekoga koga je izgubio i prije nego što se rodio - svog nestalog oca. I naći će se pred teškom odlukom: napustiti Zelenu dolinu i sve svoje rođake i ostati s ocem ili napustiti voljenog tatu i vratiti se u Zelenu dolinu...
